At Home Wedding

Wedding At Home
Temple Ewell

"Matt!! The photos are amazing! Thank you so very much! They are fabulous. You are a very talented and a huge thank you for being a part of our magical day!"

If you’re a regular visitor to the blog, you’ll know that I absolutely love a wedding at home. There is just something so chilled out and stress-free about a wedding reception hosted at home. The vibes are different. Yes, I know I’m not really describing it very well, but I’ve never professed to be a wordsmith 🙂 It’s quite hard to describe. All I can say is that the vibe of a wedding at home suits my desire for a relaxed, fun day, and this day was no exception.

Leila & Rhod hosted a beautiful reception/garden party at their lovely home in Temple Ewell, overlooking Kearsney Abbey back in June. I first spoke to Leila while I was in the car on the way home from visiting the folks last year. We chatted for a few minutes about her and Rhod and then she started telling me about her vision for the day. Here is a summary of what followed:

Beautiful ceremony at Danson House in the outskirts of London. Reception at home in Temple Ewell (yep, Temple Ewell near Dover). A day so relaxed and fun I wouldn’t want to leave. Spanish food, mainly in the form of a giant paella (and it was giant). Great booze, including a batch of home-made Espresso Martini’s (which I managed to miss out on)! The promise of one of the best bands I’d ever seen. Oh, and the fact that she was worried about being out-shone, because her sole Bridesmaid was a former model!

Wedding At Home

I can honestly say that every one of those points (apart from Leila being out-shone) was bang on the money! The ceremony was amazing, the highlight of which was their Daughter Cerys appearing beneath their hands as they exchanged rings. Keep scrolling, you’ll see it pretty soon! The day was mega-chilled and I absolutely didn’t want to leave. I wanted someone to make me an espresso martini! But hey, you can’t have it all.

The food was out-of-this-world good. Huge shout out to MK Catering. If you’re after a caterer for your wedding/event, just book them now! The band were just insane. I mean, when the lead singer (who is a skinny ginger dude. Sorry Stuart!) started shredding some Hendrix classics, I was totally blown away! I think I actually forgot to shoot some photos for a few minutes because I was mesmerised by this dude. Need a band for your wedding? Check out The Vaporisers and get them booked. Legends, all of them. And finally, while Leila’s Bridesmaid was a former model and, more importantly, an awesome human being, there was no one who was going to out-shine Leila on the day, thanks partly to her awesome Wedding Jumpsuit from Solace.

Have I done a good job of selling you on the awesomeness of a wedding at home? You just wanna see some photos now right? Okay, here you go. But first, I have to sincerely thank Leila & Rhod for being absolute rock stars from start to finish. You guys are just brilliant people and I loved every minute of your day. Thank you so much for having me. And don’t forget to invite me to the reunion!

If you’re planning your wedding at home and you’re keen to chat to me about coming along for the ride, get in touch and let’s get the ball rolling. I’d love to be a part of your day.
