There are a few different terms to categorise the way I shoot a wedding; reportage wedding photography, wedding photojournalism, and documentary wedding photography being the main ones. Ultimately, they all mean the same thing. My approach to documenting a wedding day is a pretty simple one, and is centred around seeking out and capturing all those little fleeting moments of genuine emotion and fun that make up the day. Sure, there are loads of ‘classic wedding’ moments as well like the first kiss and first dance, but a wedding day is about so much more than just the ‘traditional’ bits, and the little in-between moments really are the true storytellers. And, they’re most likely the ones you’ll really treasure, because when you (or anyone else for that matter) look at them, they make you feel something. Interesting, often funny moments, combined with some cool compositions and use of light, make the best wedding photos you’ll ever get. Trust me.
