What is an Engagement Shoot?
Engagement shoot. Pre-Wedding shoot. They come with a few names, but the purpose is the same; if you’re nervous about being in front of the camera, this is an opportunity to lay the foundations for an awesome, emotion-filled Wedding day.
Let’s face it, 95 -odd percent of us (Jess and I included) fall into that “man, I feel awkward in front of a camera” bracket, so this is an awesome and very fun way of getting any nerves or awkwardness out of your system before the big day.
People often think that it’s an hour of ‘posing’, which freaks them out a little, but it’s really not like that. It’s about going out and using the light and surroundings to create some cool photos of you looking happy and enjoying yourselves.

Why do I offer one in my Wedding Photography package?
Well, because I’ve worked with so many couples now who have turned up nervous and gone away from their engagement session saying “I’m so glad we did that. We’re so excited for the big day now” and we’ve been able to create some amazing stories together…because me being around them, complete with cameras, is familiar. I get to see how you interact as a couple, you get to see how I work with a camera, you get to hear some of my terrible jokes and, generally, there is a coffee involved somewhere along the line. Generally, we just go and have some fun and I bring a camera along.
It’s really simple. Let’s go and have some fun! Fun = laughter = relaxation = more fun = emotion = awesome pictures = happy, excited couple = happy snapper!
