Documentary wedding photography is all centred around one simple idea: to tell the story of your wedding day in an honest and creative way. No posing for loads of photos, no awkwardly saying cheese, and absolutely no holding hands reaching around a tree! You might hear it referred to as reportage wedding photography, or wedding photojournalism. Ultimately, it’s all the same idea.
I’m there to tell the story of your day in as creative a way as I can. My priority for you on the day is for you to spend as much time as is humanly possible with everyone else you’ve invited to be there. It’s not about me schlepping you off around your venue for hours on end, or posing you for endless group photos. No one wants that, right? It’s about you guys having plenty of time to get stuck into your day with your nearest and dearest, and me being right in the mix with you.
I count myself so lucky to do this ‘job’ (still can’t really think of it in that way) and I love the fact that I get to spend the day seeking out honest, unscripted and emotional moments between people. That’s why I chose documentary wedding photography; the honest moments of emotion between people, captured as creatively as I can. For me, you can’t beat that! On the day, I will be right in the action with you, working to capture all those spontaneous moments of joy and making photos that make the viewer feel like they were right there with you. You can read more about my approach to documentary wedding photography here.
If you like what you see and are interested in having me shoot your day, get in touch and let’s get the ball rolling. I shoot a limited number of weddings a year and peak dates tend to get booked up pretty quickly, so if you’d like to talk things through in more detail, drop me an email.
