If you’re new here, know this; at-home wedding party vibes are my jam! But it’s not that simple. You have to be throwing an at-home wedding party like Sarah + James did. So, let me tell you their story. Sarah + James actually live out in the US, where they had their ‘big’ wedding earlier in the year. But, their plan was always to come and celebrate at James’ family home in Flamstead in Hertfordshire as well. Why have one wedding day when you can celebrate twice?! Especially when James’ family business is growing and selling trees. So the house is right next to hundreds of trees, that we had full access to. Happy days. Literally my happy place!

Sarah is also a big fan of photojournalism. So my brief for the day was a simple one. Get stuck in, don’t make us pose and make some really cool photos. Yes please! However, this was a lovely, unconventional day of celebration. So, while the family were setting up for the garden party, we went off into the Hertfordshire countryside and shot a couple of hours of portraits! No rush, loads of quiet, green space, and tonnes of laughs. And, a trip to the village pub for a pint before we headed back for the reception. No ceremony, 3 group photos, straight into hanging out with everyone.

After our afternoon tea and a couple of speeches, Sarah, James & I headed back out into the countryside to hunt down some golden hour light. Being out in the wide open space made that light just pop! No obstructions, just warm evening sun and plenty of time and space to hang out and have fun. I know it sounds soppy, but that time always means so much to me. The connection I have with my couples is something I really value and I got to know these guys so well during this time!
Right, that’s more than enough from me, let’s check out some photos shall we?
