So, when Sara + Joe asked us to be a part of their elopement in Ravello, Italy, how hard a decision do you think that was for us? Yep, correct! It wasn’t even a decision. Just a quick diary check to make sure we were free. Jess and I have been itching to explore the Amalfi Coast for ages, and what better way to do that than to head out to Ravello to be a part of this gorgeous and intimate elopement.
Sara + Joe are from the Pacific North West of the US, so this was a proper little adventure for them, with the added bonus of their elopement in Ravello thrown into the mix. They both said that they’ve never really been about the ‘big, white wedding’ and always favoured something smaller and more intimate, so this was the perfect option for them.
Elopement In Ravello
So, after meeting in the morning for a coffee and a catch up, we spent the early afternoon at the gorgeous Palazzo Confalone hotel in Ravello, where Sara + Joe were staying that night. Jess worked her magic with Sara and we shot some photos around the hotel before we went off for a wander around Ravello for some killer portraits (with a cheeky mid-shoot Aperol and Limoncello break in the shade). If you’ve not been, the Palazzo Confalone hotel is worth a night or two. Gorgeous from top to bottom, and the views from their garden are to die for.
Jess and I both love doing the jobs we do, and getting to work together and share days like this one with those getting married is something truly special. A big wedding is a brilliant explosion of emotion and happiness, but I’m not sure we’ve ever experienced the emotion we felt as we watched Sara + Joe read their personal vows to each other, with the mountains of the Amalfi Coast in the background. Writing your own vows is a super-personal thing anyway, but the words they used, and the commitments they made to each other was so amazing to witness. This trip has absolutely made me want to shoot another destination elopement!

So, on that note, if you’re reading this and you’re keen to chat to Jess and I about being a part of your destination elopement or destination wedding, get in touch and let’s chat. We bloody love a good adventure and we’d love to hear more about your plans.
Okay, enough rambling. Time to sit back and enjoy Sara + Joe in all their Italian Elopement glory…
